New mandatory requirements for pathology and diagnostic providers to upload test results to My Health Record is the theme for a new digital health webinar.
Come join us for this latest webinar, jointly run by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation and the Australian Digital Health Agency as part of their digital health series.
Consumer expectations have moved on in the last decade and people expect better, faster, and easier access to their health information.
In response, new government legislation introduced in February aims to create a more comprehensive My Health Record by requiring healthcare providers to share diagnostic information.
While My Health Record has been around since 2012, it has never been mandatory for any healthcare provider to upload data – until now.
“While some providers have done so, there has been no obligation to, and consequently most MHRs are incomplete. We want consumers and clinicians to have access to a more complete health record,” says Ian Davies, Director of My Health Record Expansion and Use.
The vast majority of information that gets shifted around the healthcare system is pathology and diagnostic imaging tests. While the focus is on these sectors for now, the government is planning to extend the mandate to other healthcare fields in the future.
The webinar will discuss how the changes to legislation will affect nurses and midwives, the benefits including a reduction in duplicate testing, and how to work with My Health Record on the floor.
The webinar will also feature information on the revised, user-friendly My Health Record app. Live attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A with the Australian Digital Health Agency.
