Webinar to focus on Aged Care Royal Commission

Annie Butler, ANMF Federal Secretary

The Australian Association of Gerontology (AAG) is hosting an upcoming webinar on the current Aged Care Royal Commission that will provide insights into its operation and inform AAG members about how to make submissions and their importance.

To be held on 28 August, the forum features a panel of leading experts, including ANMF Federal Secretary Annie Butler, who will detail the union’s first-hand experience with the Royal Commission in making submissions and giving direct evidence.

Other panellists include Professor Emeritus Robin Creyke, from Australian National University’s School of Law, and Professor John McCallum, CEO and Research Director of National Seniors Australia.

The webinar will open by outlining why Royal Commissions can be called, their role, how they collect information and develop recommendations, and what happens once the Commission hands down its final report.

It will be followed by case studies from Ms Butler and Professor McCallum on delivering evidence at the Royal Commission and their experiences.

The webinar will allow audience members to ask questions during a Q&A with all speakers so they can gain a wider understanding of the range of issues identified in submissions from different viewpoints.
