In partnership with the Digital Health Agency, the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) webinar led by digital experts discussed the new mandatory requirements for uploading of diagnostic and pathology test results to the My Health Record.

Key takeaways from the session: 

• My Health Record acts as a central repository for diagnostic imaging and pathology results. Until now there has been no requirement for the mandatory uploading of health information to MHR, resulting in incomplete records. 

• The webinar outlines how the changes to legislation will affect nurses and midwives, the benefits including a reduction in duplicate testing, and how to work with My Health Record on the floor.  

• The vast majority of information that gets shifted around the healthcare system is pathology and diagnostic imaging tests. While the focus is on these sectors for now, the government is planning to extend the mandate to other healthcare fields in the future.
