Calling operating room nurses: What does your post-pandemic nursing practice look like?

The aim of the research is to explore Australian operating room nurses’ working conditions and nursing practices in the post COVID-19 pandemic era, including examining the relationships between the working conditions and practices and their occupational health outcomes.

Research questions cover COVID-19 work-related policies and practices, workplace psychosocial hazards, and job satisfaction.

The study, led by student researcher and clinical nurse specialist Weizhe Sun, also aims to establish the views of operating room nurses on their current working experiences in the post pandemic era, and expectations regarding operating room nursing practices in the future/a future pandemic.

The knowledge generated from the findings of the research may inform tailoring the development of future perioperative nurses’ occupational health support programs, and provide implications for nurse leaders regarding future perioperative nursing workforce management.

The survey takes about 15-20 minutes to complete, and may include a follow-up optional interview.
