Two new courses are now available for healthcare providers looking to upskill their nursing and midwifery managers and leaders in governance practices, including regulatory frameworks and risk management.
Responding to the growing challenges faced by the health sector, the Governance Institute of Australia has launched its Governance in Health Program.
Designed to foster good governance practices across the healthcare sector, the Governance Institute has developed a purpose-driven initiative to support healthcare providers in improving patient safety, organisational integrity, and public trust.
”Effective governance is crucial to the success and sustainability of healthcare organisations. With the launch of our Governance in Health Program, we aim to empower healthcare providers with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate complex regulatory environments, foster transparency, and uphold accountability,” said Governance Institute CEO Megan Motto.
The program comprises two key courses, each addressing specific aspects of governance in healthcare. Both courses are written and designed by nurses with expertise in leadership and management, and clinical governance in health and aged care.
Governance Essentials for Health Care provides an in-depth look at health and aged care governance, legislative and regulatory frameworks, and their impact on practice environments. The course emphasises strategic decision-making, risk mitigation, and accountability. It introduces principles of health and aged care governance, highlights the criticality of enterprise governance for organisational performance, and addresses the implications of the aged care reform agenda.
Clinical Governance and Risk Management in Healthcare – A Practical Approach focuses on ensuring the quality and safety of healthcare services through systematic monitoring, evaluation and improvement. It provides an understanding of effective clinical governance and the role of risk management, covering topics like the responsibilities of clinical governance boards, risk assessment, open disclosure, incident management and NDIS Risk Management.
