The National Boards and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) have published annual registration fees for practitioners for 2025/26.
For nurses and midwives, the cost of renewing general registration for nurses and midwives will increase from $185 to $193. The fee will cover the registration period from 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2027.
Board | 2024/25 fee | 2025/26 fee | Registration period |
Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia | $185 | $193 | 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2027 |
Registration fees fund the work of the National Boards and Ahpra to regulate the professions and keep the public safe, including managing applications for registration, developing professional standards that guide the professions and set expectations, investigating and managing concerns about registered health practitioners, and accrediting and approving programs of study that lead to registration and endorsement.
Earlier this year, the National Boards and Ahpra also introduced a 30% rebate on renewal fees for practitioners including nurses and midwives who take parental leave.
