Employers, colleagues, patients, family and friends have until this Sunday to nominate an exceptional nurse, midwife or healthcare organisation for the 2025 HESTA Australian Nursing & Midwifery Awards.
Now in its 18th year, the awards honour the vital contributions made by Australia’s nurses, midwives, nurse educators, researchers, and personal care workers, who improve health outcomes for those in Australian communities through exemplary care and support.
“To be recognised with this award means I’ve paid attention to where it matters, and I am doing what I am supposed to be doing. The award is a privilege, and I feel incredibly honoured and humbled,” said 2024 HESTA Midwife of the Year Skye Stewart from Red Nose Australia in Victoria.
HESTA CEO Debby Blakey has called on Australians, especially patients, colleagues and employers, to nominate a standout healthcare professional or organisation.
“Nurses and midwives consistently demonstrate extraordinary skills and empathy often under extremely challenging circumstances. I encourage anyone who works with or has benefitted from the care of an incredible nurse, midwife, or organisation to take the time to nominate them for their leadership, innovation and pursuit of excellence.”
Awards sponsor, ME (a subsidiary of Bank of Queensland – BOQ) is contributing a $30,000 prize pool, which will be split equally between the winners of the three categories – Nurse of the Year, Midwife of the Year, and Outstanding Organisation.
