Australia’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout gets underway

Australia’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout has officially begun.

Priority groups at higher risk of contracting COVID-19, including frontline healthcare workers, quarantine and border workers, and aged and disability care residents and staff, will be among the first Australians to get the jab.

Vaccination clinics have been set up in hospitals in state and territory and in aged care facilities. The number of locations will increase as more doses arrive in the country.

To inform people about when they can access the vaccine, the Australian Government has developed the COVID-19 vaccine eligibility tracker, where people can check to see in which phase they will be eligible to receive a vaccination.
