Australia’s Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Professor Alison McMillan PSM, is calling on nurses and midwives working in primary health care to take part in the 2025 APNA Workforce Survey.
Run by the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) for two decades, the survey is the only national tool dedicated to capturing the experiences of more than 100,000 nurses and midwives working outside of hospitals, including in general practice, community care and aged care.
Professor McMillan said recent reforms in primary care make it more important than ever for nurses and midwives to have their voices heard.
“In recent years we’ve seen significant reforms in primary care. We’re working towards a sustainable workforce practising to its full scope. Every day, nurses and midwives in primary health care make a profound difference to individuals, families and communities,” she said.
“The 2025 APNA Workforce Survey is your opportunity to be heard, to help inform policy and to shape the future of nursing and midwifery in Australia.”
She said strong participation would help build a more robust primary care system, address future challenges and strengthen Medicare for generations to come.
The survey closes at midnight on Sunday, 16 November. Participants go into the draw to win one of two $1000 RedBalloon vouchers.
