Free online lunchtime learning sessions on wound care are available to health professionals this Wound Awareness Week.
The Lunch Bytes professional learning series, along with consumer factsheets, workplace posters and social media resources, is available for Wound Awareness Week, 28 September to 4 October.
This year’s theme, SOS: Save Our Skin, emphasises a simple but urgent message: protect skin, recognise wounds early and seek appropriate care without delay.
Throughout the week, Wounds Australia will explore these messages from a range of perspectives.
Health professionals can register for the free daily lunchtime webinars, each featuring a different wound care topic and practical insights from leading experts.
Clinical Nurse Specialist Melissa Freeman, from the Port Macquarie Wound Care Clinic, will discuss how clinicians can empower patients to participate safely and confidently in their own wound care.
Ann Marie Dunk, Clinical Nurse Consultant in Tissue Viability at Canberra Hospital, will demonstrate how clinicians can protect the vulnerable skin surrounding a wound, helping to create the best possible conditions for healing.
Dr Michelle Gibb will explain why skin protection should be the first step in wound prevention and how small interventions can significantly improve patient outcomes.
In a new message of support for Wound Awareness Week 2026, Professor’s Fiona Wood, renowned burns surgeon and former Australian of the Year, says it is time to focus on the simple steps we can all take to protect our skin.
Health professionals who attend the live webinars will receive certificates of attendance. Recordings of the Lunch Bytes sessions will remain available online indefinitely.
Wound Awareness Week posters are also available for download and display in clinics, hospitals, pharmacies, community health settings, aged care facilities, workplaces and other community settings.
