Leading the way in women’s health.
With women making up around 88% of Australia’s nursing, midwifery and care worker workforce^, we understand the importance of providing health support that reflects the unique needs of the people who dedicate their lives to caring for others. As the health insurer for the nursing, midwifery and care worker community, Nurses & Midwives Health is committed to supporting women through every stage of life.
That’s why we’re proud to be the first and only health insurer in Australia to provide structured menopause and perimenopause support through private health insurance, in partnership with UnPause. It’s one of the ways we’re helping members access proactive, preventative healthcare that supports their wellbeing throughout every stage of life.
Taking the guesswork out of menopause
Perimenopause and menopause affect millions of women, yet they remain one of the least understood stages of women’s health. Research shows 75% of women experience symptoms, while half say those symptoms affect their work, relationships or daily life#.
For many nurses, midwives and care workers, menopause can occur during some of the busiest years of their careers, while they’re managing demanding roles, supporting patients and families, working shifts and balancing life outside of work.
The more we talk about menopause, the easier it becomes to recognise what’s happening, access trusted advice and feel confident you’re not navigating it alone.
Making support more accessible
Through UnPause, eligible members can access evidence-based, personalised menopause care designed around their individual symptoms, experiences and stage of life. The online platform provides access to telehealth consultations, expert-led education and ongoing clinical care, connecting members with qualified GPs, nurse practitioners and specialist doctors with additional training and experience in menopause care.
Members with Top Extras* can also claim a benefit towards the UnPause Posse Membership, making expert support more accessible and easier to fit around shift work, caring responsibilities and everyday life. Support is available when and where it suits you, making it easier to manage menopause care around the demands of work, life and everything in between.
The people who spend their lives caring for others deserve the same care in return. Supporting women’s health is an important part of that commitment. Initiatives like UnPause are just one of the ways we’re helping members feel supported, understood and cared for through every stage of life.
