One of the biggest complaints we hear from nurses and midwives is how sore their feet get after long shifts. At Skechers, we respect their hard work and want our nurses and midwives to be comfortable and safe while on the job.
Comfort on the job means providing footwear with features like breathable materials a good fit with a convenient style, stain resistant materials and a non-slip sole.
When you’re on your feet all day, you need shoes that go the extra mile. All Skechers Work shoes are designed with slip resistant traction outsoles, water and stain resistant uppers and our exclusive air-cooled memory foam for all day comfort.
Designed to protect, provide comfort and support; the Skechers Work range works as hard as you to keep you comfortable on your feet all day.
We asked a few frontline heroes to share what inspired them to enter the profession, what they love about being a nurse and how our Skechers Work footwear supports them, while on the job.

What’s your favourite feel good story around nursing?
I don’t really have a feel-good story but… It feels amazing to know that I am making a difference in someone’s day, big or little – anything can help. It is rewarding to have patients trust you and really let you into their lives.
What do you love the most about working in Skechers?
I love the support they provide! The stain resistant uppers give me piece of mind that whatever happens I can wipe it off the shoes.

What do you love the most about working in Skechers?
What I love most about working in my Skechers is the all-day comfort and durability they provide. I have bilateral hip dysplasia, bursitis and tendonitis but when wearing my Skechers, at the end of the day I don’t have any aches and pains. As a nurse, I walk 10km + a day so my feet do not get a break. My Skechers provide me with comfort all day long, they never disappoint.
What do you love the most about nursing?
I love the patient contact and making a positive impact on others.
What inspired you to want to become a nurse?
My mum is a nurse & that influenced me.
What’s your favourite feel good story around nursing?
A feel-good nursing story was when I had an unsettled paediatric patient that was only able to be consoled with our mini projector that was donated to us. We were able to put on The Wiggles while we applied a fibreglass cast on his arm.

What do you love the most about Nursing?
Nursing for me is all about service, empowering others to make healthy and better choices, as well as building genuine bonds. I love what I do as it gives me a sense of fulfillment. I am making a difference in the lives of others, especially in their lowest times. I love that being a nurse is still one of the most trusted professions in our community. I love how nursing reminds me of the reality of life. Sometimes we get so caught up with the wrong priorities and what is superficial, that we forget what is important. Being in a vulnerable environment where people feel hopeless, broken, dying and sick, makes me feel humble and allows me to value people more than anything.
What made you want to be a nurse?
I never wanted to be a nurse as I have always been involved with sports and fitness. But after my mother got sick when I was still in high school, I had a strong desire and willingness to study nursing. Seeing the agony and pain my family went through was my driving factor as to why I became a nurse. In addition, I genuinely love working with people. I love inspiring others; I want to see them reach their full potential not just in health but as a person. My goal has always been to be the best version of me that makes other people do better.
What’s your favourite feel good story around nursing?
With my five years of Nursing practice, one of the many unforgettable stories was being able to nurse cancer patients who were given only a few months to live. When you know someone has few days left to live you have to go above and beyond your work and give your absolute best care. As a purpose driven nurse, I truly value spiritual health and sometimes making a difference can happen when you instil hope and finding inner peace through faith in Christ. And for me this has always been fulfilling.
What do you love the most about working with Skechers?
What I truly love about Skechers is the athletic look and comfort of the work shoes. With the nature of my work, I’m always on the floor running and Skechers memory foam is the real game changer! It definitely provides satisfaction while making saving lives a vibe.
