About the Role

The Nurse Unit Manager position works in direct collaboration with another NUM to manage the 44 bed mental health acute inpatient service at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. Working together to provide leadership and management to a large team of nurses and allied health professionals promoting a healthy, safe and supportive working culture in an effort to enhance the provision of care and outcomes for our consumers.

The NUM will maintain a particular focus on relevant Models of Care and in line with professional and regulatory standards. The service-wide implementation of the DoH Victoria Framework for Recovery-Oriented Practice (2011) The NUM will provide clinical leadership in implementing changes to nursing models and practice with consideration given to the Victorian Royal Commission in to Mental Health recommendations and outcomes that influence and progress clinical care, policy and collaboration within the service. Innovative wellbeing strategies should be a central focus of the role in supporting the workforce.
