Nurse Unit Manager – Emergency Department

Using your clinical knowledge and experience, you will provide pivotal coordination of patient care delivery within the Emergency Department at Mount Gambier Hospital. The main focus of your role will be the line management, coordination and leadership of nursing and midwifery care to achieve continuity and quality of patient care and efficient patient flow. Undertaking a combination of care, team leadership and resource management activities, you will coordinate the Emergency Department’s Quality & Safety Programs to meet service and accreditation standards. As the Clinical Service Coordinator, you will provide a direct line report and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships within all members of the health care team. Accountable for the outcomes of nursing and midwifery practice, you will address inconsistencies between practice and policy and develop team performance and a positive workplace culture in the interest of patient outcomes. Mount Gambier Hospital is the largest hospital in rural South Australia and provides a comprehensive range of high quality, accessible hospital and related services. A hub regional centre with a new Emergency Department, we have a strong focus on teamwork and ongoing education and professional development.

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With prior experience in management and leadership roles, you will possess effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation. These skills will equip you to foster a work environment that develops staff potential and facilitates creativity and innovation.
