Facility Manager & Deputy Director of Nursing | Residential Aged Care

About the Role

The Facility Manager is a registered nurse who oversees and supports the safe and effective day-to-day clinical, care and wellbeing operations of Berengarra aged care home, with focus on a person-centred model of care at the service. This position is responsible for Berengarra’s compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards and St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne’s policies and procedures. The role reports to the Operations Manager/Director of Nursing – Residential Aged Services.

Incorporating the Deputy Director of Nursing role, this position also provides professional leadership and accountability for nursing practice, quality and safety standards and nurse workforce planning at local Berengarra level, all within the context of the St Vincent’s strategic plan. This position has 3 direct reports – the nurse unit managers (NUMs) of the three care units.

  • Promote a culture that supports resident choice and preference as key drivers of care; where staff, residents and their families feel welcome, valued and safe to provide feedback.
  • Provide a leadership and mentoring role to the three Nurse Unit Managers and teams within the facility.
  • In partnership with the Operations Manager, Quality Coordinator and NUMs lead and manage the Aged Care Accreditation Assessments, Support Contacts and Aged Care Complaints Commissioner processes.
  • Work with the Business Manager to ensure admission and discharge processes, including residents’ and families’ experiences, are efficient and sensitive to the needs of the individual.
  • Facilitate and maintain productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders such as the Aged Psychiatry Assessment & Treatment Team, Residential Support Program and Geriatric Community Consult Service.
  • As the Deputy Director of Nursing, provide advice and counsel to senior leaders regarding professional nursing issues inclusive of legislative, regulatory and industrial considerations and impacts in relation to nursing services and practice.
  • As the Deputy Director of Nursing and in conjunction with Director of Nursing actively contribute to Nursing professional governance and strategy across SVHM, representing Residential Aged Care in a nursing practice context.

The classification for this position will be ZE6 with an over-award applied. The total remuneration for this role is $128 – $130k per annum, pro rata, depending on the successful applicant’s experience’

This role is available at either part time (0.8 FTE) or full time, depending on the successful applicant’s preference.
