Elective Surgery Access Nurse – ESR

The role

The Elective surgery team at The Women’s are looking for an Elective Surgery Access Nurse (ESAN) to join the team for an exciting opportunity to work within the Patient Support Unit (PSU). This role will provide patients on the elective surgery waitlist with support and rapid prioritisation and assessment.

A key function of this role is to facilitate and improve communication and engagement with patients waiting for planned elective surgery, ensuring patients have timely access to treatment, improved reporting, and review of clinical requirements.

  • To validate the current planned Surgical waitlists
  • To communicate with our patients in regards to their care, hospital review, liase with the elective surgery team and all stakeholders
  • Priortise patient care to recieve optimised treatments
  • To be able capture data on a patients journey and able to present this clearly

About you

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • AHPRA Registration – Registered Nurse (Division 1)
  • Knowledge of the DHHS Elective Surgery Access Policy (desirable)
  • Experience with patient information systems such as IPM  and EMR (electronic medical record)
  • Clinical understanding of gynaecological condition within elective surgery
  • Liaise with the elective surgery team for reprioritisation of reviews/bookings/templates etc
