Eligible courses

Applications will be considered from those who are studying or intending to study the following in semester one 2021:
  • Graduate Certificate
  • Graduate Diploma
  • Masters

All courses must be undertaken with an accredited Australian tertiary institution.

Eligibility criteria

The opportunity is open to ACN members and non-members, all eligible applicants are encouraged to apply.

To be eligible for a scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Australian Citizen or permanent resident of Australia
  • Current registration as an enrolled or registered nurse or midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Delivering clinical services within Australia
  • Undertaking a course, which commences or is continuing in semester one 2021 in the following:
    • Graduate Certificate
    • Graduate Diploma
    • Masters

New Zealand citizens are only eligible to apply if they have been living in Australia prior to 26 February 2001 and can provide evidence of such, or are classed as permanent residents or Australian Citizens.

Value of the scholarship

Graduate DiplomaUp to two years part time studyUp to a maximum of $15,000 for two years of part time study, which is paid over four part time semesters
MastersUp to two years of full time study or four years part time studyUp to a maximum of $30,000 for two years of full time study or four years part time study. This is paid on a per semester basis, the amount will be determined by your study load

Selection criteria

Applicants will need to complete the following selection questions in the application form:

Question 1

How will your course benefit:

  • your nursing or midwifery practice?
  • your longer term goals?
  • those for whom you care for within your area of practice?

Question 2

Describe your commitment to your area of practice including:

  • Why you want to work in your selected industry?
  • The difference you hope to make in your particular field of study.
Applicants will receive additional weighting based on their:
  • The applicant’s rurality, which is determined according to the Modified Monash Model (MMM) determines whether a location is city, rural, or very remote
  • If the applicant identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander

Applicants will then be notified of the outcome of their application by the end of December 2020.
